Pride Comes Before Destruction

Despite the efforts of Herod, the Bible tells us that the Church continued to grow. And like those times, we are also living in a God-less nation. So what do we need to do? We need to take the Gospel out to the world. It is the preaching of the Gospel that saw the Church in the time of the Apostles grow exponentially. And this formula is still valid today.

Through persecution and trials, the Church never lost their focus on the Gospel. Despite the stoning of Stephen, and the continues martyring of believers, the Church kept preaching the Gospel. They didn’t get caught up in planning to overthrow the leadership, or to get revenge on those who were perpetrating these crimes. Instead they faithfully stuck to preaching the Gospel.

God will always work things out for His glory. So after all that Herod did for the persecution of the Church, when he tried to establish himself as a god, God proved it not so.
