Family and Our Call to Serve
Satan likes to drive a wedge between members of the body. He endeavours to keep us from knowing each other and being a true family to each other. It is one thing to be able to talk the talk of Christianity, but quite another to walk the walk. We can so easily have the knowledge in our head, but if it does not translate into our actions, we are missing something major.
God has a new life for us. But to take advantage of it, we have to die to our old ways, to our old self. And we must live according to the will of God. Going to church does not make you a Christian. There are many who call themselves “christian” who live like the world, and not like Christ.
Since we, as Christians, are described as “Salt”, shouldn’t we be causing the world to thirst after God and His righteousness. Yet most “christians” are busy chasing and thirsting after the world, and those in the world know it and taunt us for it.
What is the purpose of the gifts that God gives to us? To serve the body. So are we using these gifts within the local church? How many people come into the church looking for a sympathetic ear, and someone to help them through their life. But many come in, and then leave as they do not find those connections. So many evangelicals are busy talking about how the Christian life is about relationship. But they forget to build the relationships within the local church.
