Home Groups

Every Wednesday night we gather in prayer, worship and the study of the Word of God. These nights are a much more intimate atmosphere, creating the perfect opportunity to ask questions that you may not feel you are able to ask in Church. Each group has a leader and an assistant who will be responsible for teaching and coordinating.

Currently we have home groups meeting in Frankston, Carrum Downs and Mount Martha. For more information, please either call the leader of your local group, or send us a message and we will be in touch with you.

Why should I be involved in a home group?

Firstly, home groups are biblical. The early church studied the scriptures and fellowshipped from house to house. In their case, this was done as the church grew rapidly and faced persecution. Going from house to house enabled the Apostles to teach foundational truths to strengthen the church. We are not facing the same opposition that they did, but there is still a great need within the congregation to have meetings for teaching foundational truths. This will lead to the further strengthening of the local church.

Secondly, home groups are needed. Cornerstone has had a need for pastoral care within the local church for a long time. The home group meetings will create a connection point for all who are attending Cornerstone, thus enabling people to get to know one another in a much more intimate environment, leading to stronger relationships. The result of this will be friendships based on brotherly love (as scripture commands) which will be evidenced in the needs of the church being met as these relationships grow.

Thirdly, home groups are a powerful tool for training leaders and raising people in the ministry. It is one of our goals as a church to see people find the ministry that the LORD has called them to, whether that is being a teacher, biblical counsellor, evangelist or a pioneer who heads into the harvest field to plant a church (not to mention other ministries that God may call people to). Home group meetings help in the development of those who are called by the LORD to such areas of ministry, enabling them to mature in their abilities while gaining direction regarding the ministry that God has called them to.

We encourage you to commit yourself to being involved in these meetings. They are much more than just another Bible study. They provide a great environment for the spiritual and relational growth of the local church.
